As we approach the halfway point of our DIRT season with this Wednesday's Bellinger Auto Sales and Service Mid season championship, the points battles are heating up. Kyle has had the late model to beat and looked like he was going to cruise to his 4th win in as many weeks until Brandon Bellinger ended the streak by 1 lap. It was Bellingers first race in over a decade and he was a contender. Kyle has opened up a 22 point lead with his 3 feature wins over John Butler, who hasn't parked his 95 machine in victory lane this year but has yet to finish outside of the top 5. Carl Miller currently sits in 3rd. The battle for the Eagle Motorsports rookie of the year in the Late Models is currently being held by Aaron LaTulip who sits 12th in the points, the highest a rookie has ever finished in the points was Kyle Perry with his runner up finish in 2012. The Dirt Modifieds have been a different story as Scott Carey has dominated the last 2 weeks, giving himself a 9 point cushion over Carl Miller who sits with 1 feature win. Brett and John sit in a tie for 3rd, 12 points behind the 4 of Miller. This week will surely tell the story of the points standings. Also this Wednesday night along with the usual Late Model and Dirt Modifed classes, the Reality Asphalt Mods will hit the track for the 1st ever "Assault on the Asphalt" The winner of this race, earns 5 bonus points added on to each class. This Wednesday will certainly play a key role in who wins the championships with only 5 races left in the DIRT series!
